Bruce Dubbs has announced that the first release candidate for Linux From Scratch ( LFS) 7.4 is available for testing. Linux From Scratch is a project that provides you with step-by-step instructions for building your own customized Linux system entirely from source. From the release announcement:
" The Linux From Scratch community is pleased to announce the release of LFS Version 7.4-rc1. This is the first release candidate on the road to LFS-7.4. It is a major release with toolchain updates to binutils, glibc, and gcc. In total, 32 packages were updated from LFS-7.3 and changes to bootscripts and text have been made throughout the book. We encourage all users to read through this release of the book and test the instructions so that we can make the final release as good as possible. Please direct any comments about this release to the LFS development team. "
As usual, the Linux From Scratch book is available for online viewing and for download. The LFS project primarily serves as an educational exercise for those who are interested in the nuts and bolts of a Linux system.
